More on Navajo rugs
About the middle of the nineteenth century, the simple stripes were broken by zigzag lines, making a design which is called the "terrace" pattern.
After another twenty-five years, the Navajos tired of these designs and began weaving diamond formations.
They were also induced by some traders to reproduce their ceremonial sand paintings in their weavings, but the simpler formations are the most effective.
Navajo rugs are very popular with today’s consumers. Many people seek excellent quality Navajo rugs to design their houses.
